Heerunto are added (beside an Institution in the Art of Navigation)
newe Tables of the Declaration of the Sonne, according to Tycho Brahes Observations, applied to the Meridian of Amsterdam. Together with newe Tables and Instructions to teach men the right use of the North-starre, and other firme starres, profitable for all Seafaring men.

Værket udkom som sagt første gang i 1608, men flere indicier tyder på at værket havde været forberedt og trykt noget tidligere: Han fik således privilegium på trykningen alerede i februar 1606, en fortegnelse i bogen over skudår begynder med 1605, en månealmanak trykt i værket medtager 1607 og kort nr. 20 er som det eneste dateret - med årstallet 1607. Endelig vidner andre ting om, at Blaeu må have diskuteret en række ting med Waeghenaer inden denne døde i 1606. Det vigtigste vidnesbyrd om tidspunktet for udgivelsen stammer imnidlertid fra det 6-års privilegium, som Blaeu modtog den 19. marts 1605 med henblik på udgivelsen af hans "Ny gradbog, i den gamle stil, beregnet ud fra de meget akkurate observationer udført af den anerkendte astronom Tycho Brahe og omregnet til nederlandske breddegrader".
I form og indhold lægger Blaues værk sig tæt op ad Waghenaers "Thresoor der Zeevaert", der var udkommet i forskellige udgaver og oplag i årene 1592 og 1608. Men den størte fornyelse hos Blaue ligger i forbedringen af de hydrografiske data.
